Trying to Locate Big and Tall Men's Clothing

by Alexis D. Head

There was once a stigma attached to buying clothes for big and tall men. It was embarrassing for these shoppers because they felt others looked at them in a negative way.

The main thing to keep in mind when choosing big and tall clothing is to avoid horizontal stripes. While horizontal stripes can be great on tall, thin men, they might not suit a larger body frame the same way vertical stripes might, or perhaps no stripes at all. Horizontal stripes create an illusion of making you seem wider than you are. Vertical stripes could sometimes make your torso look longer, but they can also curve around a bigger belly and make it look much more rounded. Stick to solid colors or other patterns instead.

The biggest thing to remember when wearing big and tall men's clothing is that wearing horizontal stripes is almost never a good idea. Horizontal stripes can be effective for people who might be very tall and skinny, but for people with larger frames, perhaps vertical stripes or no stripes at all would be better. Horizontal stripes give the effect of an optical illusion that makes you look much wider than you realy are.

So you want to be sure to dress for ease of taking off/putting on. This will help you spend more time out of the dressing rooms rather than in them. This approach will benefit you when you're in stores that put a limitation on the number of clothing items you can take with you into a dressing room.

Look at the sales racks first. You'll find that clothes that are not selling fast often go onto the sales racks, and that includes clothes that are unusual sizes. You see, the normal size clothes always sell at the regular prices, but the unusual sizes don't sell as fast - so onto the sales racks they go. So being a size that's "not normal" can sometimes work in your favor, and you can actually save some good money.

Choosing the right clothes can be easy, regardless of what size you wear. The key is to find a look that flatters your shape and then add onto your wardrobe with styles that fit that look. As more designers begin working with big and tall men's clothing, it's becoming much easier to find plenty of choices for your clothing. Why not spend a bit of time seeing if you could create a whole new look for yourself?
