Terrific Skin Care Strategies for Varied Skin Types

by Simona Silva

If your skin care routine does not seem to be working perhaps the one you have isn't meant for your skin type and it is time to develop a new routine that is better suited for your needs. That happens more than you realize. The very first thing anyone should do is choose methods and products appropriate for your skin type. Whether your skin is oily, dry, combo, sensitive or sun damaged, there are routines and products that can be used to properly care for your skin. However, there are some very common mistakes that get made even by people who do everything else in the routine correctly.

Various professionals will have different opinions but they all agree that you should stick to what works well for your skin. This may seem like common sense to a degree but many people fall for glitzy marketing tactics. Your skin will not tolerate this skipping around from product to product very well and you may develop other skin irritations because of it. If you have a product that is already working why bother changing.

Slightly warm water is sufficient for that morning washing.

Be sure that you are washing your hands before you wash your face. If you use a night cream this morning wash will remove it as well as early morning oils. You need to take special care not to over cleanse your face when you use cleansers. People with dry skin types will benefit from a light moisturizer whereas those with oily skin probably don't need it.

If you live in the US, then you know full well that the water has chlorine and fluoride in it plus probably other harsh chemicals. You really should not use tap water on your face at all. It's better to wash with a purified water whenever you possibly can. The chlorine in tap water can seriously irritate very dry skin, and that is what you want to avoid. Avoid products that contain alcohol or other harsh chemicals.

If you feel like you have lost too many battles with skin care and your skin type, then take heart. You just need to do a little troubleshooting because there are definite reasons why it is happening. It is not a good idea to start a skin care routine without first knowing your absolute skin type. Once you've figured that out you can begin researching proper care for your type of skin. It's important for you to analyze your current products for accuracy of type for your skin.
