Proven Tips for Self Sun Tanning

by Adela Popescu

There are quite a few different approaches to getting a great tan. We all have choices depending on where we live which include either actually laying out or finding a great tan salon. Naturally, another choice you have is to do the tanning yourself, and that's easily possible with self tanning products you can buy. If that sounds great, then keep on reading to discover some things you may want to know before proceeding with self tanning.

You'll find a great deal of variation among the multitude of self tanning brands on the market. Take your pick; you can apply these products as a cream, lotions, and then there are powder form and even sprays. Which of these you want to use will depend on what you're most comfortable with. You should know, and it only makes sense, that the results for your skin type heavily depend on the particular ingredients (active) with any brand product. It's also quite common for people to realize they have an application preference - such as using the lotion rather than the cream, or spray. DHA is one type of active ingredient used in some sunless tanning brands, and you may want to experiment with that because the reports on the tan results are positive.

Be wary of any product that claims to give you a tan by ingesting it. These pills contain canthaxanthin also found in food as a color additive. There is no guarantee this product will give you the effect you want because you can't control the outcomes of internal medications. It is more important to note that these may not be safe and the FDA does not approve of them. You'll definately want to be aware of the side effects of canthaxanthin when taken in large amounts.

You will quickly see that it's not an easy task to remove tanning products after you've put them on. You may not like the way it looks, you may have used too much, or there may be runs in certain areas that you want to clean up. One way to remove a tanning spray is to use baking soda and scrub it off. Baking soda is the least expensive removal tool for these products. The fact that these products are near impossible to remove makes it very necessary for you to take care in applying them to your skin.

But we always would recommend taking a good multivitamin with mineral support, but not for tanning purposes. However, if you want a real self sun tanning solution, you'll have to use one of the products you apply to your skin. There really are a lot of self tanning solutions and products, and you don't know which is best for you. You can look for reviews and recommendations, but these won't always tell you what looks best on you. Once you discover a product that gives you a great tan, however, you don't have to worry about this anymore. Be sure to do as much research as possible, and perhaps ask your friends if they know anything.
